Nurses should aspire to learn about different cultures and do an in-depth study on other cultures. In order to provide culturally competent care, nurses must first learn about their patients’ cultures. It is the responsibility of the nurse to learn about diverse cultures so that they can engage successfully with patients and provide treatment that does not harm their way of life (Vermeir et al., 2018). The nurse-patient connection is essential to providing high-quality care because it allows the nurse to have a better knowledge of the patient’s needs. Consequently, nursing practitioners should have a wide range of cultural knowledge, which may be easily attained by initiating contact with other individuals, including their coworkers, at work.

It’s been quite beneficial to gain knowledge about the significance of treating patients from a variety of cultural backgrounds. As a nurse, I’ve come to realize that I need to be mindful of cultural differences because I’ll be working with individuals from all walks of life. Recognizing the patient and being close to them without breaking their cultural beliefs is aided by cultural competence (Dogan, & Schmidt, 2016). In order to have a rewarding job as a nurse, one must be culturally competent. It also offers nurses the capacity to better comprehend others. As a result, in order to have a better understanding of other cultures, I need to keep myself busy by meeting new people.

Mission and Values
For nurses, the Campinha-Bacote model of cultural competence is beneficial since it encourages them to be accepting of their patients’ differences. In order to become culturally aware, nurses must be exposed to a variety of cultures in order to understand how to communicate effectively with patients from a variety of cultural backgrounds (Dogan, & Schmidt, 2016). If a nurse is not interested in learning about other cultures, it will be difficult for them to put up the effort to do so. Providing high-quality treatment requires being able to relate to and communicate with patients from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
Personal Beliefs
My opinion is that I should be culturally competent in all facets of my life, not just in nursing. Every day, this allows me to meet new people, converse, and build relationships.
Philosophy Statement(S) Related to Culturally Competent Nursing Care
In order to provide patient-centred care, I believe that I must be culturally conscious of my patients. A lack of understanding of a patient’s culture might make it difficult to build relationships that facilitate effective communication throughout treatment.
Implementing Your Beliefs
Children should be taught about cultural differences at an early age so that they can avoid cultural bias when they are older, according to my view. Thus, if students want to pursue nursing as a career, they will be prepared to work with patients from all cultural backgrounds. Children should be exposed to a variety of cultures through games and other activities such as these.

Continuing Journey Towards Cultural Competence
To keep my cultural competency journey going, I want to take a vacation around the world and travel. I’ll be able to meet as many individuals as possible through this. Listening to individuals and studying their cultural aspects.
