Personal and Professional Growth Throughout the Capstone Project and the RN-to-BSN Program
The Capstone Project and the Rn-BSN program have immensely widened my perspective on nursing care provision and its significance in enhancing the well-being of patients. The project highlighted the variation in care requirements across the patient population and how acuity-based care provision processes improve clinical outcomes. During this project, I was able to acquire specific knowledge in stroke management and pathophysiology, as well as the external aspects that contribute to its prognosis. As in the case presented above, the patient may have suffered the stroke attack as a consequence of inadequate knowledge of how behaviour contributes to the disease process. Being a nurse and having the compassion to offer healthcare services, I should ensure that this knowledge is offered to those who need it.
Care provision for patients with stroke is a complex task that utilizes evidence-based knowledge obtained in nursing school. Projects such as the one above reinforce this knowledge by offering a first-hand experience of how theoretical knowledge can be integrated with the caring sciences and the human nature of beings. Care provision processes, however, should be conducted ethically. The understanding that the patient’s incarcerations are due to their conditions and not because of who they are will ensure that the caregivers accord them respect. Additionally, the care processes are bound by the HIPAA provisions that require caregivers to respect the confidentiality of patients’ information. These ethical principles are quite significant in care provision processes.
The project, as well as the program, have presented critical growth areas in my nursing practice. Patient management and acuity-based care provision processes are some of those areas. The importance of collaboration between the caregivers and their patients in the establishment of clinical objectives is another area. These areas enhance the clinical outcomes and promote providers’ satisfaction in the care delivery process.
