It is noteworthy that workplace violence in any healthcare setting causes increased absenteeism, declined quality of care delivery, and health workers quitting their professional fields. Apart from physical violence and verbal abuse, workplace violence includes threats to intimidation, harassment, or other hostile, disruptive behaviour at the place of work (Lim et al., 2022). The use of risk assessment questionnaires is crucial in the identification of potential risk factors. As you have observed, the assessment cannot precisely predict the occurrence of the incidents, showing a serious gap in present practices. Notably, your plan of tasking the risk assessment team with writing a report to investigate the seasonal patterns of reported workplace violence cases is a positive move. It is important to note that in many institutions, incidents of workplace violence are not reported (Huckenpahler, 2022). It is also a commendable move you have chosen to capture unreported cases using the check-out list.
