I noticed at 0:12 that you started the class by asking the students questions like “What liquid is in the jug?” which encouraged critical thinking. I wonder if adding a visual aid, such as a chart with different states of matter, might help children articulate their thoughts further. Individual Learning Differences: The teacher uses understanding of individual differences and diverse cultures and communities to ensure inclusive learning environments that enable each learner to meet high standards.	I noticed that at 2:35, when asking the students what sugar feels, smells, and tastes like, you ensured that every student gave a response to make sure that no student was left behind and that they all understood. I wonder if adding gestures would be more engaging, for example, “Mmmmmh, that is sweet, and it tastes like candy.” Please consider giving the students answers after they have given their answers.

Learning Environments: The teacher works with others to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, and that encourage positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation.	I noticed that at 8:27, when you started making lemonade, the students sat around a small table where they could see what everyone was doing, which enhanced participation and engagement for all. I wonder what strategies you would incorporate to reduce distractions and disturbances from other students who wanted to join the table to enhance the attentiveness of the students. Please consider choosing a more quite corner with little or no distractions.

I noticed at 8:55, the teacher explains to the students the steps for making lemonade, which shows she understands what is supposed to be done. At 18:18, the teacher let the students stir to dissolve and observe—this made science tangible. I wonder what other examples that students would explore in their daily lives to show solids and liquids. Please consider a “kitchen science” take-home activity.

Interdisciplinary Connections: The teacher understands how to connect concepts and use differing perspectives to engage learners in critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative problem solving related to authentic local and global issues.	I noticed that at 17:54, you counted the number of cups of sugar to be added to the jug of water, integrating math naturally. I wonder if you would incorporate or link this concept to literacy, for example, reading; we measure the amount of sugar to ensure accuracy. Please consider pairing the activity with a simple recipe book children can ‘read’ (e.g., pictures of steps).

Assessments: The teacher understands and uses multiple methods of assessment to engage learners in their own growth, to monitor learner progress, and to guide the teacher’s and learner’s decision making.	I noticed that at 18:50, you asked, “What happened to the water?” to check their observation skills and understanding of color. I wonder how you will document who grasped the concept versus who needs reinforcement. You could ask questions at the end to determine whether they understood. Please consider using a thumbs-up/down quick poll or have the learners draw “before/after” sugar in their journals.

Planning: The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills, and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context.	I noticed, at 20:31, that you had no towels in case of spills, which is more likely to occur when working with water and children. I wonder what your plan is if a child accidentally drinks lemon juice and gets upset. Please consider Pre-mixing a tiny sweet sample for tasting first, or keep a “happy cup” of pre-made lemonade for emergencies.
