Overcoming Obstacles & Memorable Experiences Narrative Essay

I have encountered numerous obstacles in my life, but one memorable one happened on New Year’s eve. I was ready to enjoy the end-year celebrations with my family, but I received a distraught call from my friend enquiring about my plans for the day. I briefed her about my end-of-year party plans, and I asked if she could join us for the celebration. To my dismay, my ferried asserted that I had to rush to his place as she had an emergency. I called my family, alerted them of the unfolding events, and excused myself, asking them to proceed with the plans and assuring them that I was to join them once we’d sorted the issues affecting my friend.

I drove to my friend’s and discovered that she was in immense pain after undergoing a miscarriage. I had never encountered a similar experience before, and I opted to rush her to a healthcare facility. My car developed a mechanical problem on our way there, and the rains were on us. Having a patient who needed urgent medical attention stuck in a non-functioning vehicle was a breath change, given that I had little knowledge of the ideal care services my friend needed. I was psychologically traumatized, and panic gripped me. All I needed was to stay calm and face the challenge and help my friend get the much-needed medical attention.

I called for taxi services and had the driver drop my friend at the nearby hospital as I waited for my mechanic to sort out my vehicle’s problem. It took the mechanic 4 hours to fix the problem, and I was shocked to learn that my friend was on the verge of losing her life had I not asked for the taxi services. She was rushed to the intensive care unit, where she received treatment. I deem this as my greatest obstacle as the phenomenon was new to me, I had little insight into the ideal care for such patients, and the breakdown of my car on our way to the hospital sent us into a state of disappearance. I learned a lot from experience about staying calm and handling issues objectively and not panicking, as it greatly helps make accurate decisions that minimize damage. Although I failed to join my family in the New Year’s celebrations, they were proud of my determination and courage to see my friend receive the utmost medical care and save her life.
