Organizational Cultures-Mayo Clinic
Mayo Clinic and How It Aligns with Personal Values
I choose to focus on the Mayo Clinic for this case study because of the clinic’s well-known dedication to humane ideals and patient care. The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, is an American not-for-profit, academic medical facility integrating clinical practice, teaching, and research (Furst, 2020). It is well-known for its positive corporate culture, which prioritizes providing excellent care to patients, doing groundbreaking scientific research, and providing cutting-edge medical education. My own beliefs are pretty congruent with those of the Mayo Clinic. The Mayo Clinic represents the same principles that I hold dear: honesty, dignity, cooperation, creativity, and the pursuit of perfection.
The Role of Communication in Fostering a Thriving Culture
Good organizational cultures are the result of open lines of communication. Effective communication is crucial to building a collaborative and innovative work environment where people feel safe sharing ideas and opinions (Borkowski & Meese, 2021). Employees are more likely to work together toward common objectives when an environment of mutual respect and open discourse is fostered through good communication.
Example of Company’s Effective Communication Methods
The Mayo Clinic uses a variety of reliable channels of communication. The Mayo Clinic’s website helps reach the general public and potential patients. It details the organization’s work in terms of service, study, and teaching (Borkowski & Meese, 2021; Furst, 2020). The Mayo Clinic is also quite active on social media, another excellent way to get the word out. Mayo Clinic can have a more open and friendly dialogue with its patients and the general public via social media.
Possible Ineffective Communication Methods and How to Resolve Them
Using too technical jargon is one example of a communication strategy that may not be successful. This might make the organization’s services, research, and instructional initiatives less accessible to patients and the general public (Borkowski & Meese, 2021). A company may address this problem by using more explicit terminology and providing more information about its diagnostic, therapeutic, academic, and community service offerings. This may aid in making the data more widely available to patients and the general public.
