Faced with the increasingly fragmented and complex healthcare system, patients and their kin often find they are overwhelmed and lack the critical information to make informed decisions. Such vulnerability is the main reason for microsocial level advocacy, where the patient’s needs are addressed, and nurses are directly involved in caring for patients. The health disparity is perceived as a significant advocacy driver at the microsocial level, considering the broader social issues range. Here, the efforts at championing social justice help ensure that all persons access the needed healthcare services (Water et al., 2016).

By advancing one’s education and through extensive care for patients and their kin, a nurse practitioner can advocate by providing the needed voice of the patient, the profession, the community, and, even more significantly, of themselves.

While advocating for patients has been perceived as a critical part of nursing for the longest time, it has been indicated that a better understanding of what it entails is necessary. The nurse’s role has been cited as involving various factors that affect efforts in advocacy. There are also specific ways that nurses can advocate directly for their patients within the care settings. These efforts on advocacy include patient protection from harm, patient preference communication, fostering of staff collaboration, provision of critical information to help in decision-making, and patient voice support about their care and choices (De Chesnay & Anderson, 2019).

Community nursing has a broad role in services that focus on community service. Nursing service and advocacy should start within every household and stretch to the community. According to Rasmussen University (2020), “low levels of education, belonging to marginalized communities, and symptoms of poverty were found to be a bigger risk factor for poor health outcomes than limited access to care or genetic predispositions toward illness (Stenquist, 2020).”These just determined the need to increase accessibility for our community outreach. The main focus of community nursing is giving health services to home settings, schools, churches, and other community outreach programs.

Nurse Practitioners are healthcare professionals who are an essential part of the system that collaborate and advocate services in partnership with providers and physicians across community, primary, and urgent settings (Joel, 2018). In today’s growing demand and need for more healthcare services, nurse practitioners have played a critical in providing care in all settings, especially in rural areas. The Nurse PPractitioner’srole has evolved over the years and has made a lot of development. Recently, most states have also adopted full autonomy for nursing practice, which is incredible that it can now serve more patients and families.
