The health issue identified in Cypress, Texas, is the spread of COVID-19. Even though this is a global health issue, managing at local levels helps achieve a global impact of the reduction in the spread of the virus. As a relatively small community, it is easier for the virus to spread from one person to another since people visit the same stores and use the same walkways, which means that people are more likely to socialize. The young people in Cypress must understand the importance of controlling the spread of the virus. One such way would be through conducting community health promotion.

The primary prevention measures refer to the attempt to prevent oneself from getting COVID-19. This can be achieved in several ways that are accomplished at a personal level. They are usually steps that involve simple and routine application. Examples of such measures include wearing a face mask, washing hands with soap and water on a regular basis, and keeping social distance. Another recent step is getting vaccinated against COVID-19 (Hou et al., 2020).

Young people in Cypress can apply these measures as an example for other age groups to take part willingly to avoid the spread of the virus. Additional techniques can be added to improve the chances of staying clean from the virus, such as proper handling of the mask when putting it on and when removing it. In other cases, individuals may be asked to keep at least 1.5 meters distance from another person. However, others may avoid crowded areas altogether.

Secondary preventive measures for the spread of COVID-19 include steps taken to try and detect the disease early and prevent it from worsening. In this case, the residents of Cypress can be informed of the signs and symptoms to watch out for to enhance the early detection of an infection. According to Rai et al. (2020), COVID-19 takes up to about 14 days from the time of infection to the point where it manifests serious symptoms; early detection may help in saving the lives of vulnerable groups. Therefore, some of the secondary preventive measures include looking out for the following signs and symptoms: Fever, dry cough, tiredness, sore throat, diarrhea, headache, loss of taste or smell, discoloration of fingers, and conjunctivitis. Serious symptoms include difficulty in breathing (shortness of breath), chest pressure or pain, and loss of speech and movement.
