Methodology
The proposed research aims to interrogate the impact of poor chronic pain management on the mental wellness and quality of life of adult patients. The study will be conducted in a community setting, using case study designs to explore the phenomenon being studied: Methodology.
Data Analysis Plan
Data collected from the study will be analyzed against the research questions and the working hypothesis to draw meaningful conclusions on the topic of study. The findings, in this respect, will help establish whether poor management of chronic pain has negative impacts on adult patients. Conclusions from the analysis process will also help inform the need for sustained chronic pain management across populations.
Data utilized in the analysis process will be obtained from the interview reports of the participants. Audio and video recordings will first be transcribed. The transcriptions, along with the observations made and notes taken during the interview, will form the basis of the data to be analyzed.
Data cleaning will then be performed. Data cleaning is integral to nursing research as it allows the identification of apparent discrepancies. It also helps in removing data duplicates and standardizing the data formats (Pilowsky et al., 2024). This underlines its inclusion in the process.
Data obtained will be analyzed through thematic analysis. Thematic analysis is an analytical technique that allows the elucidation of recurring patterns within a data set. It involves carefully examining the data, extracting the information found in the data, and interpreting it to arrive at meaningful conclusions.
In this case, thematic analysis will allow the identification of recurring themes on the impact of insufficient management of chronic pain. This will help the researchers ascertain whether poor chronic pain management has health impacts on adult populations within the community settings.
Plan for Analysis of Demographic Variables
Data analysis for demographic variables involves obtaining and studying data on diverse population parameters, such as age and gender. Descriptive statistical tests will be used to analyze key demographic parameters, such as age, gender, educational level, and health literacy levels (Jones et al., 2021). In this case, the identified variables will be studied.
Basic measures, such as the mean, mode, median, and standard deviation, will also be calculated to understand the distribution of the parameter within the target population. Likewise, these measures will be evaluated against existing information from the literature to ascertain their concurrence (Jones et al., 2021).
Qualitative researchers are often required to understand how key population parameters are distributed within their target populations. This is because of several reasons. Foremost, demographic parameters, such as age and educational level, determine how accurate the answers provided by the participants are.
For instance, the health literacy of adults with poorly managed chronic pain will affect how they understand the interview questions. This may also impact the results of the study and the conclusions (Jones et al., 2021).
In the proposed study, the dependent variable is physical and mental wellness. The independent variable is chronic pain management. Descriptive statistical tests are the statistical measures that will be used to analyze the variables identified above.
A form of descriptive statistical test that will be employed is the measures of central tendency. These include the mean, median, and mode. On the other hand, inferential statistical tests, such as the regression analysis will be used to make conclusions based on the available data set. Regression analysis will help establish the relationships between the study variables.
