Metaparadigm Of Nursing and Watson Essay
The metaparadigm of nursing has four core concepts, mainly person, health, environment, and nursing. The nursing metaparadigm is essential in constructing any nursing theory since the four core concepts are all intertwined during nursing care delivery to patients. For this paper, I will discuss the ‘person.” Metaparadigm. The person concept is centered on the person who receives the care (Deliktas et al., 2019). The connection also has family members and other people who are important to the receiver of care. Nursing care should consider the patient’s values and needs, such as spiritual, social, and healthcare (Deliktas et al., 2019). The result of care is determined by how the patient interacts with social and physical connections. The concept of a person being empowered with the knowledge to manage his well-being with self-preservation and dignity.
Watson’s theory has four main aspects: human beings, health, environment, and nursing. This theory is essential since it helps nurse practitioners care for patients with compassion, ease their suffering, and promote well-being and dignity (Pajnkihar et al., 2017). Concerning the nursing metaparadigm, nurse practitioners must develop knowledge and skills to care for patients, promote their health, prevent disease and help patients promote implementing healthy lifestyles. According to Watson’s theory, nursing practice should be holistic and look at the patient as a whole. Nurse practitioners should consider the patient’s beliefs and environment. The role of the nurse practitioner when handling the concept of the ‘person” is to care for the patient, educate them to participate in their healthcare, and empower them to make healthy lifestyle choices.
