Measurement and assessment-target behaviour -Problem Child Part 1
The movie selected for the analysis of target behavior is Problem Child Part 1. The character of interest is Junior, who is also co-starring with Ben, his foster father. The target behaviours of this seven-year-old boy are disruption and violence (Dugan, 1990). Junior gets disruptive when not given attention, therefore, he attracts attention by pranking adults by throwing things at them or putting things in their way that can make them fall or make a mess to embarrass them (Dugan, 1990). Junior responds violently when he is rejected by knocking his peers with objects on their backs. Other times he throws things and even cuts their hair.
The measure that will be used to record the level of occurrence of a junior’s target behavior is frequency recording. The optimum uses of frequency recording are for behaviors that have a distinct beginning and end. Consistently, to examine this behavior, the Antecedent-Behaviour-Consequence (ABC) will be used. This is an excellent method to use because when one wants to change a behavior, it is essential to understand the cause of the behavior (Steege et al., 2019). As Dzandu (2023) has stated, clinicians need to formulate an intervention, and for effective intervention, there is a need for an adequate understanding of the problem.
Using frequency recording, I made a record of the events leading up to the behavior as well as the consequences of the behavior. I learned that Junior is generally a well-behaved youngster, despite his desire for attention. Junior’s behaviors are not too frequent, as he only exhibits the target behavior whenever he is not given attention or is confronted with rejection, hatred, or ridicule. He then responds by hurting others by placing things to make them fall, cutting their hair, throwing away their gifts, or hitting them with something. However, Junior does not cause any disruption or exhibit the behavior unprovoked.

Question
UNIT 5 DB. 410
Within this unit, you have learned the importance of operationally defining the target behavior, the ways in which behavior is recorded, and some specific direct descriptive methods of FBA. For this discussion, you are going to focus on operationally defining a target behavior as well as identifying the appropriate method of measurement and assessment.
Discussion
Conduct an internet search for a video of a potential target behavior. You may search in broad terms such as “crying,” “tantrum,” etc. Once you have identified a video, include a link to your chosen video in your initial post.
Please complete your assigned readings and respond to the following:
Provide an operational definition of the target behavior.
Identify the type of measurement that you feel is best to record the level of occurrence of your target behavior.
Measure the behavior using this method and indicate the level of occurrence of behavior that you have recorded.
