Theodore Roosevelt is among the people who have been globally recognized for their good leadership. He stated, “The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint to keep from meddling with them while they do it” (Raup, 2012). This quote resonates with me due to my good problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills. I use my leadership role to delegate tasks based on people’s skills and competencies to ensure that every task is effectively completed in line with the organization’s or team’s goals. I also ensure that I communicate everyone’s role and the goals and objectives that should be achieved so that I do not have to constantly remind employees and team members about what is expected of them. This contributes to autonomy, allowing everyone to make decisions and implement ideas as long as they are aimed at achieving the specified objective.

Feedback is vital in ensuring that employees meet the organization’s expectations. Therefore, I use communication skills to solicit input from team members and employees to determine improvement areas and ensure they have the resources needed to function independently. I use problem-solving skills to eliminate barriers to employee autonomy, such as micromanagement. This helps set boundaries, thus restraining from meddling with the team members and employees in completing assigned tasks. I ensure that everyone understands they are responsible for their actions, thus increasing accountability among team members to improve performance outcomes. I also use problem-solving skills to address issues that could reduce employee and team members’ morale and commitment to their work. Lastly, I ensure that employees are motivated to create job satisfaction and a sense of belonging and responsibility.
