Discussion Response

Hello,

Great work with your post! Your post stands out because you have gone beyond the requirement to explain how “most people don’t notice the heroes that are working every day without recognition.” I think this justifies your preference for invisibility to flying superpowers. You like doing things secretly without getting the attention or appreciation that most “heroes” or “saviors” of our current generation would want. This might be connected to your “personality” attribute of secretiveness or stealth. Sincerely speaking, I think this supernatural ability will suit your personality, and you might make the world a better place. I just can’t imagine the faces of the captors holding hostages in a confined area and waiting for millions of dollars in ransom when they realize that their captives escaped unharmed and their identities exposed! You will be a great revelation to the world! A super FBI agent! Regardless, by looking at your personality, I think you are also an empathic and benevolent individual who cherishes helping others overcome their life challenges. Thus, I have the feeling that the “flying” powers might also fit you perfectly. You might be this “messiah” saving underprivileged individuals from the sins the government and society have subjected them to, including inequality. You might not only be the ambulance flying destitute children to care facilities during emergencies, but you will also manage to stop crime before happening. Wouldn’t it be even better than face recognition cameras for you to stop and arrest terrorists before they plant those bombs? In truth, even though the paper restricts us to imagining ourselves in either of the situations, having flying or invisibility abilities, I cannot just fathom you have both powers.

In essence, each student is peer-reviewing other students’ work. Through these assignments, you will encounter a variety of writing. Some of it will be good and some of it will need more work. Learn from those writings that are good; use consideration and thoughtfulness to help those who need more work.

Offer at least one positive and one constructive opinion to at least three students. To assure everyone’s material is read, once a student has three responses, please read someone else’s response. Feel free to read and respond to more than three students.

I have also included the initial discussion prompt for this discussion if needed to understand my classmate’s post

As the only superhero with superpowers, my power would be invisibility. The main reason behind my decision is because I feel I would be able to use my invisibility powers to better use then if I were able to fly. I also feel that flying would draw too much attention to me, granted I have superpowers, but I don’t want to be flashy I’m just trying to get the job done.

Let’s start with the basics… we all know for the most part that the power of invisibility can be used for stealth if done right. I say this because even though you’re invisible, that doesn’t mean that people won’t notice you. You can still make noise unintentionally. That means you have to learn how to be silent and avoid things that might give away your position. I feel like that’s already something I do on the daily. With these “specific set of skill” I would be able to enter or exit any desirable or undesirable place. An example is a hostage situation, I can enter where the hostages are being kept, free them and/or take out any hostiles. I feel though that I wouldn’t be your standard comic book superhero.

When most people think of a superhero they think of Superman, Spiderman, and most of the other classic Marvel and DC superheroes. People (humans, aliens, androids, etc.) that have superpowers and help helpless people in their time of need with a smile. Saving people by following a “superhero code” or morale of how a hero should act. They’re basically a really famous celebrity. However, most people don’t notice the heroes that are working every day without recognition. The most common heroes we know don’t wear caps or have superpowers. I would want to be like them if at all possible to show and give the respect that is due, that’s another reason why I don’t wish to be flashy. I don’t want fame or a lot of praise because the more people know about me the less likely I’ll be able to walk around, even with a secret identity. To put simply, I would only go about doing what I believe is right.
