Interview Questions and Answers

What are your strengths?

One of my strengths is being a critical thinker. I take my time analyzing facts about a situation before forming a conclusion. This strength helps me make the best decisions and avoid bias. The second strength is good communication skills. I have good written and verbal communication skills, enabling me to interact with my colleagues and clients, collaborate, complete tasks, and meet specific goals and objectives.

Why do you want this job?

I want this job because it includes roles and responsibilities that will enable me to apply my knowledge, skills, and competencies and enhance my proficiency and expertise. The job also creates an opportunity for me to understand the trends that could impact my role and how to respond appropriately since your organization has a reputation for effectively adapting to changes in the business environment.

What is your ideal company?

My ideal company is one that gives employees the autonomy to implement creative ideas, work under minimum supervision and participate in decision-making. I would also like to work for a company that has employee training and development programs that support employee career development.

When were you more satisfied with your job?

I was more satisfied in my job during the COVID-19 pandemic due to working remotely. According to Levanon (2020), remote work was the biggest impact of the COVID-19 pandemic because organizations had to close their offices to prevent exposing employees to the virus. During that time, I could work under minimum supervision and take a break whenever I felt exhausted, thus increasing my job satisfaction.

What do you know about this industry?

I know that the manufacturing industry is rapidly changing because of the rise of robotics, which enables manufacturing firms to automate most processes. There has also been a rise in the need to use renewable energy in manufacturing plants to conserve the environment and meet energy regulation standards. According to Kim (2021), manufacturers worldwide are developing new ways to use renewable energy to strengthen competitiveness related to clean energy in various industries. Therefore, the future of the manufacturing industry may be influenced by energy sources and consumption.

What was the last project you led, and what was its outcome?

The last project that I led was developing a new performance management system. The project was successful, and I was rewarded for being the best team leader.

Tell me about a time when you had to deal with conflict on the job.

Conflicts are inevitable in organizations, especially because of differences in opinions, expertise, and experience (Ben-Hador, 2018). As such, I had to deal with a conflict when two of my team members could not agree on who to choose as the team leader. I resolved the conflict by requesting every team member to vote anonymously and selecting the member who received the most votes.

Can you describe a time when your work was criticized?

My work was criticized when I first joined my former workplace. I had just graduated from campus and had no experience working in a busy environment. My first task was to conduct phone interviews under the supervision of the junior human resource manager. I was criticized for exceeding the time set for each interview, but after a one-month training program, I could meet the organization’s expectations.

How do you want to improve yourself in the next year?

I want to acquire more knowledge and expertise in human resource management and join a team of human resource management experts to expand my career network in the next year.

How would you go about establishing your credibility quickly with the team?

I would establish my credibility quickly with a team by sharing my expertise and knowledge during interactions with the team members and being active in the team’s activities.
