One of the most compelling arguments for rethinking our immigration system is the potential economic benefits. Reforming immigration policies has the potential to boost the overall economy by stimulating economic growth and job creation. Increasing the number of taxpayers can also help to alleviate the strain on social programs. Reforming immigration policies is also critical, given the severe labor shortages in several industries. Reforming immigration policies can aid in the alleviation of labor shortages by attracting highly skilled workers who will increase innovation and productivity (Schain,2018, p.18). Other benefits of reforming our immigration system include increased national security and reduced illegal immigration. Reforming immigration policies to reduce illegal entry is one way to improve safety. Addressing immigration policy reform can help to strengthen diplomatic ties with neighbors. Repairing fences with neighbors and reforming immigration policies can help the economy.
