The chosen speech is “I Have A Dream” by Martin Luther King Junior. In this speech, Luther emphasizes justice for all, racial equality, civil rights, and the need for freedom for Negros, giving hope to Negros that he has a dream that one-day racism and segregation will end, and they will all shout for freedom at last (Rare Facts, 1963). In addition, Martin was a natural speaker rather than just memorizing the speech. He remembered the key ideas, specific lines, and aspects to emphasize more. One aspect learned from Martin’s speech is everyone should be hopeful and believe in conviction. He said, “without conviction, any transformation one tries to achieve will probably fall flat” (Rare Facts, 1963). It means without belief and hope, nothing can be achieved. I can apply it in my current study life to focus on my education with a lot of determination and have the conviction that I will excel in my studies, and indeed, it will happen. Martin’s speech was so powerful, educative, and persuasive. Thus, I would wish to seek out his speeches because of the conviction and emotional touch in his speeches.

Finally, King used nonverbal communication, such as maintaining eye contact and facial expression. He maintained eye contact with his audience to create an interpersonal and intimate experience for the audience as he articulated his points.
