Hypotheses-How to Improve Coping Skills in Parents
Hypotheses formulation is a crucial step in a research study. Formulating hypotheses guides the researcher in deducing profound inferences (Mauldin, 2019). Testing the hypotheses forms the basis of conclusions. In conducting a study on how to improve the coping skills of parents, the following hypotheses can be tested;
Hypothesis one: Parents’ involvement in communal activities improves their coping skills.
Study Category: Qualitative study
Independent Variable: Involvement in communal activities
Dependent Variable: Coping Skills
The first hypothesis will aim to test whether the parents’ involvement in communal activities contributes to the improvement of parents’ coping skills.
Hypothesis two: Participating in common family activities improves the parent’s coping skills.
Study Category: Qualitative
Independent Variable: Participation in family activities
Dependent Variable: Coping Skills
The hypothesis above posits that participating in common family activities, such as events and ceremonies, playing, eating together, and other common activities with family members improves their coping skills.
Hypothesis three: Supporting the parents’ interests enables them to improve their coping skills.
Study Category: Qualitative
Independent Variable: Supporting parent’s interests
Dependent Variable: Coping Skills
The hypothesis aims to understand whether supporting the interests of parents in various aspects improves their coping skills.
According to the three types of research listed by Mauldin (2019), the hypothesis favors descriptive research since the main aim is to establish and define a particular phenomenon to understand it. Notably, the study aims to understand how the factors of interest impact parents’ coping skills. The data used in the study will mainly be qualitative data due to the nature of the questions and the subjects under study. The descriptive study will be conducted using interviews to ensure that the information collected suits the study.

Question
Develop and list three hypothesis statements for a research study on:
How to Improve Coping Skills in Parents
Answer:
*Would these hypotheses fit a qualitative or quantitative study?
* What are the differences in the hypotheses you developed?
*Identify in each hypothesis you developed the independent and dependent variables. *List them and state why they fall under each category.
