The Chosen Scenario: Samantha Jones (Point Clinic)
Samantha Jones’s issues include poor treatment by management, long work hours, under-compensation, and under-appreciation. These issues could also have potential legal implications for Point Clinic if the employees decide to take any action (Matsumoto, 2019). For example, they can file a lawsuit or report the company to regulatory authorities if they are not satisfied with the action taken by management. Financially, underpayment could lead to a cut in productivity and increased employee turnover. Employees who feel underappreciated will likely leave the company once they find better opportunities elsewhere, reducing their productivity.
The other important issue in this scenario is Point Clinic’s organizational policies. The company has policy that requires employees to work long hours, leading to physical and mental health issues (Mousa & Othman, 2020). Prolonged exposure to stress at the workplace can affect employees’ personal lives, negatively impacting their productivity and leading them toward burnout.
HR is responsible for ensuring the workplace is protected from discrimination and harassment. They must also investigate employee claims, take corrective action, and ensure the company complies with all relevant laws and regulations. In this scenario, the HR professional would need to meet with Samantha Jones and the other employees who sent emails to discuss the situation. The HR would then need to work with management to develop a plan that addresses the employees’ concerns. It may involve company operations changes, such as shorter work hours or increased pay.
One strategy an organization could use to prevent this type of scenario from occurring is to establish an effective communication system. It would involve regularly communicating with employees about their concerns and ensuring they feel comfortable voicing any issues they may have (Stahl et al., 2020). Another strategy the organization could use is conducting exit interviews with employees who leave the company. The organization can then take corrective action to address these issues before they become problematic.

James was highly concerned about the incident and how this might affect coworker relationships at the clinic.
Samantha Jones, an employee at Point Clinic, shared her concern with the executive leadership on how she felt about recent events involving management’s poor treatment, long work hours, under-compensation, and under-appreciation. The Point Clinic executives received four emails similar to Samantha’s on the same day. The executives met with the small Point Clinic HR department to discuss a plan to address these concerns, but financial constraints were the main concern raised during the meeting.
