Holistic Approach to Crisis-COVID-19
I would focus on three key areas of the wheel as a human services professional acting in the COVID-19 pandemic issue since they are extremely important for people, families, and communities. First and foremost, it’s critical to address financial issues because the pandemic has caused numerous job losses, economic instability, and financial challenges. Individuals and families can retain stability and fulfill their fundamental requirements if resources and aid are provided to lessen financial stress (Elshaer et al., 2022). Second, due to the pandemic’s significant emotional impact, caring for emotional well-being is essential. Many people have felt increased stress, anxiety, grief, and isolation levels. The pandemic has disrupted social connections and intensified loneliness and isolation; thus, fostering social support is crucial. By facilitating virtual community engagement, support groups, and peer networks, we can create opportunities for individuals, families, and communities to connect, share experiences, and provide mutual support.
I would respond to the person, family, or community affected by the COVID-19 dilemma with empathy, active listening, and a willingness to hear their viewpoints, even if they disagreed with the issues I thought were most crucial to address. It is vital to respect one’s opinions and consider their particular demands and situations (Chemali et al., 2022). I would endeavor to learn about their issues, top priorities, and any other areas they think are important through open communication. By doing this, I can more effectively adapt interventions and work with them to create an all-encompassing plan considering their unique needs. I would resort to professional networks, supervisors, mentors, and pertinent organizations specializing in crisis response or public health in circumstances where advice and counsel are required. These resources can provide valuable insights, expertise, and evidence-based practices to ensure a well-informed and effective response to the COVID-19 crisis.
