A few things will likely occur once Trevon voices his technological idea that he thinks is good for the group (Hamilton, Creel, Taylor &Francis  2019). Firstly, Trevon thinks that he will get all the credit for his idea; however, this might not be the case because other members may have other options, which means that his idea might not be chosen. Secondly, in a group, there are a lot of options to choose from, and in the end, all members will collectively make a choice on what direction to go, which then means that even if his idea is chosen, the credit is not attributable to him alone but all team members. Thirdly, just because his idea is good does not mean that it is the best; as such, another team member might have another idea that the team would prefer to his.

When working in a group, one can overcome individual opinions by learning how to solve problems as a unit rather than individually. Accordingly, there are several steps to solving problems as a team. The first step is to identify the problem together (Hamilton, 2016). This enables the group to draw boundaries of the problem and start formalizing a description of the problem’s size or scope that needs to be addressed. The second step is conducting a problem analysis, which involves listing all the issues that need discussion and gathering information from members and outside sources like the public. The third step is establishing criteria (Hamilton, 2016), which essentially is drawing up standards that the solutions provided need to meet before it is considered. The third step is generating possible solutions and choosing the best one (Hamilton, 2016). All these steps help a person be involved in the process of voicing their own opinions while listening to those of others and weighing all the pros and cons of each opinion before deciding on the best way forward.
