Global Warming: Extreme Global Weather
Global warming is the main reason for climate change, leading to long-term impacts on weather and temperature. Global warming is connected to human activities, especially fossil fuel combustion, to produce energy, a fundamental component of the global community today. Most human activities release greenhouse gases, contributing to global warming. Global warming is an international issue: Global Warming: Extreme Global Weather.
As Climate Central (2017) illustrates, global warming has increased since the 20th century across continents such as America, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Climate change is indicated by the increasing trend in temperature. In the early years of the 1900s, temperatures were moderate at around 0℃, but by 2016, temperatures had risen to 2℃ or more in many countries (Climate Central, 2017). Rising trends in climate change, evidenced by recurring natural calamities such as hurricanes, wildfires, and floods, call for stronger and more sustainable methods to protect the planet and its ecosystems.
Transitioning to renewable energy technologies is fundamental to decreasing the use of coal and fossil fuels to generate power. Governments should utilize available renewable resources like solar, water, wind, and waste to generate electricity (Olabi & Abdelkareem, 2022). Even transport systems should be electrified using renewable energy sources so that vehicles do not cause air pollution. Climate Central (2017) has presented a clear image of global warming among different countries over various times within one presentation.
The image brings responsibility to all viewers regarding being accountable for their actions and what they do that contributes to climate change. If everyone is informed about global warming and encouraged to engage in environmentally friendly activities, there would be less pollution and reduced greenhouse gas emissions through various personal reforms. Individuals could become vibrant in participating in environmental conservation measures, such as tree management and proper water disposal.
