Four Types of Politics
Politics produces both cost and benefits. Explain the four types of politics, who benefits and who pays.
Politics involves the running of a government or organization. Politics involves benefits and losses. The benefits and losses may affect an individual, a group of individuals, or the entire immediate community. These benefits or losses arise due to individuals’ taxes toward the governing body. The four types of politics include majoritarian, interest group, client, and entrepreneurial politics (Wilson, DiIulio, Bose, and Levendusky, 2016).
Majoritarian politics
Majoritarian politics involves developing policies that benefit everyone (Wilson et al., 2016). The people elect a group of representatives to act on behalf of them. Besides, almost everyone pays, and almost everyone benefits. The majority of society is entitled to a percentage of benefits and can influence decision-making. The costs and benefits are distributed.
Interest group politics
Interest group politics involves developing policies allowing a group to benefit and another to pay. The benefits and the costs are distributed between groups.
Client politics
Client politics involves the development of policies whereby one group benefits, and almost everyone pays. The benefits are concentrated within a group while the cost is distributed amongst the people. The small minority group is privileged over the general public.
Entrepreneurial Politics
Entrepreneurial politics involves the development of policies whereby almost everyone benefits, and a group pays. The cost is concentrated while the benefits are distributed. A group pays the cost by providing benefits for the people as the objective.
In conclusion, all decisions a governing body makes affect the people under that governance. Costs go hand in hand with benefits in governmental institutions. Therefore, the type of politics used will determine the success of a government.
