Favorite Memory

One of my favorite memories was when I earned my first salary at 15 years and, bought my first phone (Samsung Galaxy A5), and also did some shopping for my parents. I had always wanted to have something that I had worked hard for as opposed to something that was simply given to me. I remember how happy and empowered I felt that day, and to top it all; it was the first time I ever heard my father tell me that he was proud of me. Get in touch with us at eminencepapers.com. This type of memory can be categorized under episodic memory. An episodic memory involves the memory of events that took place in a certain context, place, or time (Feldman, 2020). This memory falls under episodic memory because I remember what happened (earning my first salary and buying a phone) when it happened (when I turned 15), and where it happened (at home). These three (what, where, when) are considered essential factors in episodic memory (Pause et al., 2018). However, the passage of time (transience) could cause me to forget this memory.

Nevertheless, in order to preserve this memory, I would constantly recall and retell this memory to people, as this would enhance my ability to preserve the memory longer. Brown (2020) claims that constantly repeating a memory can help individuals preserve it in long-term memory even over time. I could also use retrieval cues that can help me recall memories stored in the long-term memory. According to Feldman (2020), retrieval cues help individuals to remember things more easily. One of the retrieval cues might be a Samsung phone. Buying a phone was among the significant things that happened that day, and seeing a Samsung phone, particularly, can help me recall the event and recall my father telling me that he was proud of me.
