The article was originally published in the Community Safety and Well-Being Journal in 2022 by SG Publishing Inc. as an official publication of the Community Safety Knowledge Alliance. The source is credible and useful for my research because it has been written by individuals with experience in the topic and provides arguments supporting my argument that community policing helps maintain order in society and increases community confidence in the police leading to a reduced crime rate.

The article is authentic because the authors’ conclusions are also based on a study conducted in communities that use community policing, thus providing evidence of the efficiency of community policing in crime reduction. The authors’ own sources include the findings from their meta-analysis.

The article aims to determine the relationship between community policing and crime rate. The authors arrive at their conclusion by combining two past meta-analyses of community policing and English and Turkish online searches. They conclude that community policing reduces drug sales, property crime and disorders, but it is not effective in reducing crimes such as gun use, burglary, and robbery. The article is of value to my research because it will offer information I can use to support my arguments on the role of the community and police officers in community policing and the influence of community policing in reducing the crime rate.

Generally, the article is both credible and useful for my research because it contains information that I can use to support my arguments and has been written by individuals with experience in the topic I will be addressing in my research. I will mainly focus on the information provided by the authors about the role of communities and police officers in community policing and the influence of community policing on crime reduction and prevention.
