Since the advent of the internet, teacher-student interaction has been a primary concern. Therefore, teachers should not be allowed to text students freely. Students only need to log onto their computers or phones to find their teachers’ Tweets, personal blogs, or Facebook profiles, and any inappropriate information in these posts can cause serious issues when searching for or trying to keep a job (Kauchak & Eggen, 2015). Nonetheless, one advantage of teacher-student interaction on the internet is it allows learners to inquire quickly from teachers; it makes learners freely share their ideas and problems. The disadvantages include it raises concerns about children’s safety. It exposes teachers to risks of losing or protecting their jobs because of their postings on the internet. Finally, it also threatens the private life of a teacher (Kauchak & Eggen, 2015). Suppose I end up working in a state with no regulations on student-teacher interaction on the Internet. In that case, my philosophy on this matter will be to avoid online or internet student interaction and only encourage group interactions because direct text with students will expose me to serious dangers such as losing my job and invading my privacy. Secondly, I will ensure I am mindful of anything I post on the internet, even if I will not directly converse with students. It will be prudent to follow the INTASC guideline that advises teachers to have access to information and use technology in legal, ethical and safe ways (In TASC Standards, 2013). Teachers’ Private Lives

Indeed private lives of teachers matter so much and should be placed under more public scrutiny than those of other professionals like lawyers. The primary reason this should happen is that the teacher’s role is more than just assisting learners in understanding different subjects. They are also role models to learners and society; therefore, teachers’ lives are often under much more scrutiny than other professionals (Kauchak & Eggen, 2015). Even if a person’s right to “liberty, life, and pursuit of happiness” is one of America’s founding principles, whatever happens, however, when one’s lifestyle conflicts with the society where one works, often matters. This mainly applies to teachers because they have the right to their own private lives, but it has to meet society’s standards of acceptable behavior. Even if clear answers have not been found concerning this issue, whenever cases about teachers’ misconduct or termination from work arise, the courts have often relied on the definition of teaching, which is broader than classroom instruction (Kauchak & Eggen, 2015). It extends to society, which puts teachers’ private lives under much more scrutiny than other professionals. For instance, some teachers are fired for being homosexuals because teachers are perceived as good role models to the kids and society. Therefore, behaving against the community’s morals is considered immoral and should not be associated with teachers as their actions are likely to influence behaviors, especially among those who look up to such teachers.
