Our healthcare facility needs to be seeking measures to become energy efficient. Becoming energy efficient impacts our earth and reduces our cost spent on energy use. Our problem is we lack the resources to initiate sustainability within our organization. Assessing our current situation within the organization is vital to the desire to become energy efficient. Below, I will present the vision, a timeline of achievements as the expected outcome, and the drive for the passion.

Energy Efficiency

 Energy efficiency is a way to reduce the amount of energy used while performing the same function. According to commercial business, the most crucial reason healthcare facilities desire to save energy is to reduce costs and increase operating margins (2019). The reduction of cost allows for the relocation of funds to improve the functions within the facility. Examples of operations would include but are not limited to maintenance within the facility. Routine maintenance has proven costly but helps reduce the risk of an extensive repair. By implementing energy-saving items such as lighting, heating, and cooling, we can increase our operating margins due to the upgrade within the facility, which will draw patients and improve patient satisfaction rates.

According to the site Logiq, committing to reducing their impact on the environment through better energy consumption (2020). Energy use affects our environment by the release of emissions. By becoming energy efficient, we achieve the same service but more efficiently. So, we start with how.

Continuous improvement can be completed through reassessments and further change as needed. It is recommended that we partner with Energy Star. A partnership with Energy Star allows for motivation, incentives, and accountability. All that has to be followed is the steps above to become energy efficient within our facility.

The Goal

 The plan is to evaluate our current stance on the use of energy. Develop a beneficial strategy, whether it be through lighting, heating, and cooling. Development of a partnership with Energy Star to become aware of the topic while providing motivation, incentives for our facility, and accountability. We desire to impact the environment and our facility as a whole. The vision is to promote energy efficiency and reduce costs to allocate resources where needed while increasing our operating margin.

Conclusion

 The promotion of energy efficiency to impact the environment and relocate resources saved to other areas within the facility to promote production and increase positive patient outcomes and patient experience. A plan to initiate has been presented in the form of steps. This plan is a commitment to the vision. Our next step is assessing our current energy use and the state.
