Chapter 14 of the book Exceptional Children addresses the need for early interventions for successful Early Childhood Special Education programs. These programs are designed to meet the needs of learners with varied types of disabilities by ensuring these learners acquire the needed skills and knowledge that help them achieve their educational goals. Therefore, this discussion discusses what the chapter covers.
The chapter covers the importance of early intervention measures for successful early childhood education. As such, families should be at the forefront of identifying the needs of their children. According to Heward (505), developmental screening tests should be done for children with special needs to differentiate them from the rest. The chapter advocates proper training amongst educational experts to ensure they have essential skills to impart knowledge to learners with special needs. According to the Early Childhood Education Act, learners with disabilities should be given priority when designing instructional materials. Consistently, instructional materials should be designed and embedded in learning opportunities. This strategy aims to subject learners to early intervention to help them achieve their learning goals. The following are some of the ideas I have learned from the chapter.
