  1. Implications for achieving a diverse classroom: knowing all students, creating an inclusive classroom, and creating a classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and student learning.
  2. The sources of student diversity a teacher should use are differences in development by age, cognitive, affective, and psychical areas, and differences in sexual orientation, among others.
  3. The strategies that help create a supportive and caring environment are showing care towards students, celebrating diversity, having high expectations for all students, and believing that all students can succeed.
  4. The strategies for tutors to create an inclusive multicultural classroom are providing needed assistance, determining instructional approach, and selecting a responsive curriculum.
  5. Tutors should implement differentiated learning instructions to meet different learners’ needs.
  6. The characteristics of students that teachers can differentiate are readiness and interests.
  7. Teachers should encourage responsive cultural teaching using strategies such as familiar speech events, interactive teaching strategies, and assisting students in finding the significance and purpose of what is being learned.
  8. Teachers should use mixed-gender learning approaches to motivate both boys and girls academically.
  9. Tutors should implement cognitive, sensory modalities and brain-compatible learning styles to achieve differentiated instructional teaching.
  10. Teachers can help struggling learners by using different strategies such as after instruction, during instruction, and before instruction.

The primary takeaway from this chapter is the need to enhance a positive learning environment that encourages cultural diversity to help meet the needs of all learners. Burden and David (2010) emphasize that teachers must promote an inclusive multicultural classroom for successive learning (29). This strategy will significantly help in the future as I will apply strategies that embrace an inclusive and multicultural classroom that promotes positive learning since a classroom comprises different types of learners whose needs must be met differently. Therefore, tutors must utilize culturally responsive learning strategies such as brain-compatible learning, cognitive style, and sensory modalities to ensure the needs of all learners are eventually met. This is an impressive idea because it promotes unity and diversity, where all learners are treated equally, implying that they will feel valued and free to participate in learning. Cultural diversity is also applicable in the future, where mixed-gender learning approaches will motivate both boys and girls to take subjects that still experience gender-based differences.
