Cabells is a platform with journal information, submission details, and university evaluation metrics (Hoffecker, 2018). It describes quality metrics, peer-review policy, fees, and other features that researchers may consider when deciding on their research publication. Joseph Carrington Cabell founded Cabells in 178 as a directory for business management journals. The founder was looking for an easier way for researchers, professors, tenure committees, and doctoral students to find information in academic journals to publish their research. The founder also intended to make the platform a reliable source of information on visibility, competitiveness, integrity, and quality of journals. Such information is essential in selecting an appropriate journal to publish research because it dictates the perception of the study to readers. For instance, if a researcher publishes their research in a journal with a reputation of providing poor quality, readers may not be interested in their work. Cabells is currently recommended by most learning institutions as an essential resource when preparing to publish academic research.

What is one item that would be perfect for new doctoral graduates to consider?

The blacklist would be perfect for new doctoral graduates to consider. According to Bisaccio, (2018). The blacklist contains a list of problematic journals that they should avoid when choosing a publisher for their research. A problematic journal may be characterized by constant revisions and additional hidden fees. Publishers may require researchers to make a few changes to their research based on their editors’ recommendations. However, the changes should be recommended once to prevent prolonging the publication process.

What research hub have you become affiliated with?

Currently, I am affiliated with the University of Phoenix Research Hub. I find the hub helpful because it includes interaction with other researchers in the university. Therefore, we can exchange ideas on university research publication and submission requirements. The hub also creates a safe environment to exchange views on publishers that we can hire to avoid publication issues such as being overcharged or paying an incompetent publisher. The hub also enables researchers to ask the university faculty important questions on research publication to ensure that they publish the journal within the institution’s guidelines.
