From your description of the kind of music you listen to, like Z-Ro, Paul Wall, and Project Pat songs, and where you’re from, I get a good picture of what your background is like.  Further, you have well stated the challenges you’ve overcome, such as racism and discrimination, but also didn’t fail to mention the good moments you’ve shared with your family, which shows how aware you are of the various problems within your community. Overall, your post blends well/describes the different facets of your identity to create a unique tapestry of beliefs and experiences that identify you.

Responding to Person 2

Hello,

This is a well-detailed post. Your reflection of who you are makes it clear that your life experiences, values, and environment have shaped you.  The inspirations from artists like SZA, Clairo, and Lana Del Rey show your taste in music as well as the feelings and experiences you may have connected to their songs. Further, you have highlighted your support system and how it has shaped your values and character by stating that you were raised to be independent. Overall, after reading your post, I have a better understanding of who you are as a person from your experiences, values, and relationships.

Responding to Person 3

Hello,

This is a great post. Your list well describes the things you are good at. They include reading, making a mean steak dinner, online gaming, and playing the flute. Consistently, your description well reflects your love and enthusiasm for playing the flute. It’s evident that your flute adventure began in early 5th grade, to be exact, when a kind instructor (Mr. Boyce) saw your potential and pushed you to go for it. Your detailed descriptions of the flute’s playing technique reveal your extensive understanding of the instrument. Notably, from your story, I’ve learned how important mentorship and dedication are in succeeding at anything. Lastly, it is clear to see that playing the flute is not merely a hobby, as many would thin,k but is a meaningful part of your identity and journey.

Number 7 on my list is very near and dear to me. First, you will need to place the mouthpiece just under your bottom lip and bring the top lip just a bit over and blow directly down into the mouth piece. Once you’re able to produce a sound, then you will be able to place both hands on the instrument (right hand towards the bottom with fingers pointed outward, and left hand towards the top with fingers pointed toward you) and start placing fingers on the appropriate keys. I first learned and fell in love with the flute when I was in the 5th grade and we all got to try out instruments for the beginning band starting in 6th grade. The teacher instructing me said I was a natural and to keep practicing. Once in 6th grade, I quickly excelled in playing the flute and was constantly in 1st or 2nd chair. I would say the person who had the most influence on me was the percussion instructor Mr. Boyce. He was the one that hired a pianist last minute with his own money so that I could perform for a scholarship (which I won by the way). He always encouraged me to continue fighting for my space in the music world and shaped me to become a better person as well as player.
