Define public administration in your own words. 

There are various definitions of public administration provided by researchers in the field of leadership and governance. Based on my understanding of the different definitions that I have explored, I would define public administration as the planning and implementation of policies set by the governing authority. Explain what informed your definition. 

My decision was informed by the roles of public administrators, which include planning, researching, and recommending programs and policies that follow government and administrative law and fall within budgets, managing and assessing special initiatives and projects, and coordinating with others to adopt and implement new programs or policies, communicating the effectiveness of programs with other constituents, employees and stakeholder groups and collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data such as budget reports, public records, historical data, and surveys to make improvements and adjustments as required.

How does your definition compare to other definitions you have come across?

My definition is similar to other definitions that I have come across. However, other definitions have identified the governing authority as the government. For instance, Johnston (2015) defines public administration as the formal arrangements under which public organizations serve the government with the aim of meeting public interests. The author also argues that public administration can be defined as the formal administrative and procedural arrangements under which public employees serve a government by advising and implementing policy and managing resources. Kumari (2021) defines public administration as the implementation of government policy.
