‘Be Connected’ is one of the most successful public-private partnership (PPP) nonprofits. The organization targets over 500,000 service members and veterans with support and resources (Arizona Coalition for Military Families, n.d.). The beneficiaries must be residents of Arizona. The organization was launched by a single member in 2017 but has since expanded to incorporate over 30 statewide communities.

One of the main reasons for the success of ‘Be Connected’ is risk allocation and effective economic policy. Effective risk allocation is achieved in the organization by allocating risks to the most suited partner to manage the risk (Sanni, 2016). Besides, the organization is attached to the political class. The link is crucial since politicians guide the organization by creating a policy framework (Sanni, 2016). The Arizona state legislature and the state executive are actively engaged to ensure ‘Be Connected’ delivers its mandate. Effective risk allocation and a sound economic policy are crucial to creating a good public infrastructure, besides improving profits for private partners.

Furthermore, leadership focus provides the much-needed impetus in a PPP. For instance, a government ensures that a PPP aligns with public procurement rules and that the project’s implementation goes according to initial objectives (US Department of Veterans, 2019). Also, the government provides briefing documents and coordinates private partners since a government naturally has a vast network and coordination capabilities. These factors are essential to ensure the successful implementation of projects using a PPP procurement method. Key participants in ‘Be Connected’ include the US Department of Veterans, the Arizona governor’s office, and TriWest Healthcare Alliance.

Also, feedback collection is crucial to the success of a PPP. A feedback collection effort targets completed programs and is intended to guide the implementation of similar projects in the future (Sanni, 2016). The process helps avoid stumbling blocks while building on success factors.

In summary, a public-private partnership nonprofit like ‘Be connected’ requires successful coordination of the public sector and private sector partners. Success factors include feedback collection, effective leadership, and the risk allocation policy. The leadership of any PPP must take these factors seriously to ensure effective procurement and access to financing from private sector partners.
