Discussion – Physical and Emotional Wellness

Physical wellness is my strongest dimension. It entails taking care of the body, especially through exercising, feeding on appropriate foods, sleeping well, and taking necessary check-ups. For my physical self, I indulge in physical activities such as jogging, weight training, and yoga. I also pay attention to what I eat and ensure that I take healthy foods and drinks that will help me throughout the day. Besides, it is imperative to have adequate sleep every night and perform health check-ups to assess the body’s health status (Yamaura et al.). To maintain my physical wellness, I set achievable fitness goals and track my progress. I stick to my exercise regimen and eat a balanced diet regardless of the various temptations I am likely to encounter. I also pay attention to my physical and mental state, taking breaks whenever I feel I need to, which helps reduce the risk of stress-related illness and injuries.

Emotional wellness, on the other hand, is the most challenging dimension for me. Emotional wellness means being in control of one’s emotions, knowing how to handle stress, and maintaining a positive attitude toward life. There are always times when I fail to handle stress and feel emotionally unstable, especially when facing certain circumstances. In order to enhance emotional health, adopting the practice of mindfulness, meditation, and breathing exercises is important (Bringmann et al.). These practices help me to be more realistic and be in touch with my emotions. I am also improving ways of handling stress, which includes writing in a journal or discussing with a friend or counselor when I feel overwhelmed. In addition, self-compassion is a criterion that I am currently aiming at, as well as learning how to deal with emotions without judgment. Through the gradual integration of these approaches, I can improve my level of emotional strength in this dimension of well-being.
