Discussion – How Might Offices Physically Change in The Coming Years

The COVID-19 Pandemic has triggered significant changes in many aspects. The Pandemic has taught people to survive without frequent socialization. The office is now changing from a traditional office to a less traditional office (Wright, 2020). There are several ways the office could physically change after the Pandemic. First, middle management will be eliminated. There are senior-most managers, middle managers, supervisors, and junior employees (Cheremond, 2019). A large percentage of people will be working from home without physically going to the office. Hence, there will be a need for a lean management team. Hence, the middle management would be down away width.

Secondly, many employees will work in group works, and the group leader will be reporting to senior management hence, doing away with the middle managers. The future of the once is bound to change since the employee will use avatars, real-time dialects, conversation interfaces, and language software.  Moreover, in ten years to come, smart machines will be co-workers (Cheremond, 2019). The smart machines will be completing the tasks reserved for people and what is thought to be impossible today. Offices will consist of individuals with extreme digital dexterity; when hiring, firms will require people with deep knowledge and understanding of the digital space (Wright, 2020). This qualification will enable individuals to work with smart machines and operate them at the same time.

By 2030, the traditional office will still exist, but the offices will house few people and many smart machines. The traditional office will also shrink because firms will no longer need large office space since most of the employees will be working from home (Cheremond, 2019). Very few or senior management will be in the office to coordinate the activities. The employee will be required to visit the offices occasionally when there is a need.
