Discussion – Healthcare Technologies
The article selected is on healthcare technologies. The author sought to assess technological progress in EHR optimization (Negro-Calduch et al., 2021). The essential information conveyed in the abstract includes what informed the study, the methodology utilized, the results of the study, and the conclusion. The abstract is aligned with Shon, (2018, p. 34) provisions on what constitutes an abstract. Per these provisions, an abstract should contain enough essential information to allow the reader to assess its relevance and merits. In the article presented, the author postulates that there are growing complexities surrounding healthcare technologies, with challenges bordering data processing, the usability of diverse systems, and data exchange, among others, being apparent. These provisions adequately preview the study and give the reader an insight into what to expect in the study.
Further, the abstract of the article outlines the methodology used by the author to arrive at their findings. As evident in the article presented, the author utilized the systematic review analyzing articles from reputable databases such as MEDLINE and Cochrane. The results and conclusions are also highlighted in the abstract. Overall, the abstract section provides synthesized elaborate information on HER optimization. The reader gets enough insights into the topic of study and can score the paper on its relevance based on the information contained therein.
The author’s arguments in the abstract section are also logical. As evident in the abstract, the author begins by stating the rationale of the study and attaches background information on the same. The author then highlights the methodology used to arrive at the findings before making conclusions based on the findings of the study. This demonstrates logicality in the author’s arguments.

Question
An article’s abstract “contains enough essential information about the article to be able to assess its merit and relevance…and you can discern and anticipate the logic of the author’s argument before even reading through the full article” (Shon, 2018, p. 34).
Discussion – Healthcare Technologies
Locate 1 research study on your topic in your field of study published in a peer-reviewed journal article from the University Library and read the abstract. ( ** provided link https://library.phoenix.edu/home**)
Write a 250- to 300-word response to the following:
In your own words, what is the essential information and logic of the author’s article/argument?
Review others’ posts and substantively respond to at least 1 of your course colleagues in 150 words. What are some similarities and differences from what your colleagues stated about abstracts? Did you draw any new conclusions about the importance of an abstract? Use peer-reviewed literature in the University Library and the Learning Activities folder to substantiate your discussions.
