The selected emotion is love. Typically, love is depicted in the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty, written by Charles Perrault in 1697, and it is obtainable online. The main theme in the story is that true love conquers all things and that good will has a way of prevailing over evil. This example is pertinent for this assignment because it is a great story for developing rhetorical ideas, assessing human conduct, and teaching people about love. The interpretative tool for this story is an analysis of the characters and their traits.

The other example is The Surprise, which artist Antoine Watteau painted in c. 1718. Getty Museum attained La Surprise, Watteau’s magnificent painting in 2017 (Beeny, Davide, and Rand 3). Notably, the painting depicts love and romance whereby the characters appear secure and totally immersed in each other’s love and romance, not caring about the guitarist observer. In addition, I have included this painting because of its ability to showcase love in its natural settings and trigger emotions in people. The interpretative tool for this painting is the utilization of color and oil.

The last example is a love poem written by an author known as Brooke in 2022. It is available online. The author says that when they are together, it is astoundingly divine, and he could not be proud to call her his (Brooke 1). I chose the poem because the narrator is declaring love for the character, thus showing how great love feels. Accordingly, I will use the tone and voice in interpreting the poem.

Final Project, Part 2. Development of the Topic.
This part of the final project is a summary of your ongoing work on the final paper; it should include three paragraphs, one covering each selected work. You should also make sure to re-state what your subject is.

Development of the Topic

Identify how the subject you chose in Part 1 appears in three different examples, each from a different Humanities discipline (visual art, music, dance, poetry, prose, theater, film, religion). For instance, you could choose a poem, a painting, and a scene from a film, all of which express and represent the theme of anger. Or, to be even more specific, if you choose the emotion of “love,” the final paper could analyze and discuss love as it is expressed in Shakespeare’s Sonnet 147 (literature), Botticelli’s Birth of Venus (visual art), and in the ballet Swan Lake (dance).

Write one short paragraph (3-5 sentences) about each of your selections in which you:

Identify a reliable and appropriate example (a good-quality image, recording, video, etc.).
Identify and cite the source, including the artist, creator, etc. as well as where you found the example.
Explain why you find the example relevant for this assignment.
Identify one tool, concept, or method from the Learning Resources you might be able to use to talk about it.
