Developing a Mission, Vision, Goals, and Objectives for the Project
Proposal Outline
- Introduction
- Background to the topic: In project management, mission and vision statements, as well as project goals and objectives, are critical strategic elements that offer direction and bearing to the organization, stating where the company is headed and how to get there.
- The rationale for research: The rationale for this proposal is to justify why some company projects succeed and perform better than others, especially those with a clear mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
- Research Aims
- Overall aims: The primary aim of this proposal is to explore and examine the importance of mission, vision, goals, and objectives in project management and to determine whether it influences success.
- Research Questions: What is the role of mission and vision statements, as well as goals and objectives, in project management?
- Literature Review: According to Alegre et al. (2018), vision and mission statements serve a central role in giving organizations a unique identity. Studies have also shown that setting up goals and objectives can give organizations a critical direction (Sampiero, 2016). However, previous empirical studies have failed to quantify the strategic importance of these features.
- Methodology: A cross-sectional study survey will be used to analyze the contribution of mission, vision, goals, and objectives in about 50 popular international companies.
- Results/Discussion: Companies with a clear vision, mission, objectives, and goals are expected to perform (including financial returns) than those without.
- Conclusion: In summary, it can be argued that vision, mission, objectives, and goals are key strategic plans that can provide organizations with the direction of where they want to go.
