Decision Making

Decision Making

Provide an explanation describing the following decision-making styles: directive, analytical, conceptual and behavioral.

There are four decision making styles; directive, which relies on either an autocratic or rational style, results in the employees using their acquired experience, knowledge, and judgment to make the best decisions (Dewberry et al., 2013). Analytic decision making is where the leader is majorly concerned with alternative brainstorming, long-term results, taking high risks, and creative approaches to solving problems. Conceptual decision making tends to take a social approach. It encourages collaboration and creative thinking and considers a wide range of perspectives (Dewberry et al., 2013). Finally, behavioral decision making involves making sure all employees work together; unlike in conceptual, instead of brainstorming, employees are provided with options, and thereafter, the cons and pros of each option are discussed. Conceptual decision making would be the most appropriate because it is achievement-oriented, and leaders think of the future in decision-making.

Imagine you have been selected for an interview (with FEMA). Discuss what you would do to prepare for the interview, including: what would you research, wear, practice, and bring to the interview? Identify at least three key strategies that would help you successfully interview.

To prepare for my interview at FEMA, I would research the organization and the skills required for the position I am applying for, dress officially, and bring my educational certificates and a recommendation letter from my previous jobs. The three strategies that would help me in the interview are to be confident in answering the questions, pose reasonable and smart questions, and finally tell about my strongest points regarding the position.
