Database Concepts – The Personal Cloud Storage Database

Database Concepts – The Personal Cloud Storage Database

An example of a database I may use in my current or future career is the personal cloud storage database. This type of database is essential for my career because it would enable me to save a large amount of data using a small portion of space. Some of the work-related documents that I can save on the personal cloud storage database include but are not limited to photos, documents, and contact information of my respective customers. The personal cloud storage database is essential in my career because it would ensure that all confidential documents are stored securely and can be easily retrieved when required (Pratt & Last, 2014). The data stored on a personal cloud storage database is often safe from infiltration by third-party individuals seeking access to this confidential data and using it for mischievous purposes.

The personal cloud storage database is composed of various tables; these tables can store vital data such as clients’ profiles or complaints raised by them. The rows within these tables are mostly referred to as records, while the columns are identified as fields. The data sets within the fields include dates, text, or hyperlinks (Pratt & Last, 2014). Finally, the database collects the entire data set running within the computer and can easily be accessed differently. The database is a combination of fields, records, and tables. Besides these, there are benefits to managing the database, such as using either Access or an Excel worksheet. Some advantages of managing a database in Access are that it helps one to stay organized, timely search results, and can be accessed by multiple users simultaneously (Pratt & Last, 2014). On the other hand, managing a database in Excel is beneficial because it allows for the effective execution of complex calculations, quick comparison of outcomes, and provision of high-quality charts. Therefore, adopting Access and Excel yields the best outcomes as one harnesses the benefits of both programs.
