Self-esteem
Self-esteem is a psychological term that refers to an individual’s general feeling of personal value and worth. It is an extent that people like themselves regardless of the situation. It is defined by identity, self-confidence, security feelings, self-competency, and a feeling of belonging (van der Cruijsen & Boyer, 2021). Factors influencing self-esteem include age, genetics, disability, diseases, thought processes, socioeconomic status, and physical abilities. There are two types of self-esteem: High self-esteem, when people believe in themselves are regard themselves as worthy, and low self-esteem, when people don’t believe in themselves. Self-esteem is important because the process of decision-making, relationships, mental health, and overall wellness are all affected. It also influences motivation, as individuals with a healthy, positive self-image are more aware of their capabilities and may be motivated to try new responsibilities.
Self-efficacy
Self-efficacy refers to people’s beliefs in their ability to carry out the required behaviors to achieve specific performance goals. It indicates self-assurance in managing one’s motivation, behavioral patterns, and social setting. These personal cognitive evaluations influence the objectives for which individuals aspire, the amount of output exerted toward achieving goals, and the possibility of achieving certain aspects of behavioral effectiveness (Makara-Studzińska et al., 2019). It is hypothesized that self-efficacy beliefs differ depending on the type of functioning and the events accompanying behavior occurrence. The concept of self-efficacy has been utilized in numerous behaviors in health psychology, including pain control, eating, exercise, use of alcohol,self-management of chronic disease, and quitting smoking.
Self-perception
Self-perception refers to the image people have about themselves and their characteristics and the judgments they make about them. Daryl Bem’s self-perception theory (SPT) is a theory of change in attitude. It claims that we form our perceptions by analyzing our behavior and deducing which attitudes are responsible for it. Because we always assume that attitudes come before behaviors, the theory is paradoxical. Furthermore, according to the theory, an individual’s attitudes are induced without a person’s inner cognition or emotional states being accessed (Ruiz-Montero et al., 2020). He rationalizes his observable behaviors in the same way he tries to justify the behaviors of others. Self-perception is essential as it influences people’s moods, judgment, and behaviors.

Self-Esteem
According to van der Cruijsen & Boyer’s (2021) study, there is a strong association between self-esteem and mental health status. The research found that low self-esteem causes anxiety, depression, and aggressive behaviors. The study’s clinical implications indicated that ASD youths are more likely to have low self-esteem. Identity self-esteem appears to be a more accurate indicator of co-occurring issues. Furthermore, in youths with ASD, low self-esteem is linked to co-occurring aggressive behaviors and depressive symptoms. Previous research in adults with eating problems, depression, or schizophrenia found that cognitive-behavioral therapy aimed at improving self-esteem improved self-esteem and depressive symptoms. Hence, healthy self-esteem is essential in establishing a good mental health status.
Self-efficacy
Research by Makara-Studzińska et al. (2019) indicated that self-efficacy is a strong determinant in the associations between psychological stress and psycho-physical burnout, feeling of professional insufficiency, and disillusionment, changing the strength and direction of the relationships. The findings suggest that self-efficacy is an important personal asset for firefighters, as it reduces the effects of psychological stress on many burnout presentations. It can be concluded that establishing self-efficacy is a crucial component of burnout besides preventive interventions, pro-health tasks, and psychoeducation. Self-efficacy is an essential pathway for behavioral self-regulation, distinguishing people according to their motivational and cognitive performance and impacting employee performance in organizational settings. Employees’ mental state and positive stress coping are aided by self-efficacy.
Self-perception
According to research by Ruiz-Montero et al. (2020), In teenage students, there is a correlation between gender and overall physical fitness (OPF), with physical self-perception mediating this relationship. Furthermore, strategies to enhance personality and physical self-perception in teenage female students are required, as boys in all PSPP scales had good overall self-perception. Girls are at risk because they have reduced body self-confidence, feelings of inadequacy, and psychological problems. Personal body self-perception should be an essential social-cognitive approach to providing appropriate mental health in children and teenagers.
