A Summary of My Strengths and Opportunities for Improvement

Tests and other learning evaluation tools provide a systematic way of measuring learners’ intelligence and knowledge. Yang et al. (2019) note that test helps identify learners’ strengths and weaknesses. A reflection of the practice test questions revealed that my specific strengths were in medication concepts, while my weaknesses were in pediatric diagnoses. Medication administration and pediatric diagnosis are integral to psychiatric nursing. Bolstering knowledge in these areas is thus crucial for aspiring psychiatric nurses. To do this, I will reinforce my knowledge of medications and medication administration to guarantee better clinical decision-making on medication selection. Pediatric diagnosis of psychiatric illnesses remains a problematic area for me, as revealed by the test. It is an area that I will have to work on to be a competent nurse. Our assignment writing help is at affordable prices to students of all academic levels and academic disciplines.

The study plan aims to reinforce my knowledge of medication topics and enhance my confidence and understanding of pediatric diagnoses. The study plan will encompass activities centered on reading and other learning activities. The plan seeks to achieve three goals. The first goal is to be able to verbalize the medication categories used in the management of common psychiatric illnesses by the third week of the study. This goal is targeted at reinforcing my understanding of medications and medication administration. It can be accomplished by studying textbooks on psychiatric nursing, exploring the internet, and watching case studies on psychiatric illnesses. A total of 30 hours will be required to attain this goal. This will be broken down into two hours every day, five days a week for three weeks. The progress towards attaining this goal will be evaluated through self-assessment using quizzes and questions on pharmacotherapy of psychiatric illness.

The second goal is to be able to verbalize various psychiatric illnesses affecting children by the fifth week of the study. This can be accomplished by watching case study videos, engaging mentors, and studying library texts and other online resources. A total of 60 hours is required to attain this goal. This will be broken down into four hours every day, five days a week for five weeks. This goal will be evaluated by self-directed tests targeting knowledge of pediatric illnesses. As Geng et al. (2019) note, self-directed assessments are valuable in boosting the learners’ confidence in their mastery of key content areas. They can inform the need to allocate more study time to problematic areas. The test will utilize questions obtained from online resources and the school library.

The third goal is to know psychiatric assessment tools that are valuable in diagnosing pediatric psychiatric illnesses by the fifth week of the study. This goal is relevant to pediatric diagnosis and can be attained by studying textbooks on psychiatric illnesses, reading online resources on psychiatric diagnostic tools, and engaging peers through group discussions. A total of 60 hours is required for the attainment of this goal. This will be broken down into two hours every day, five days a week for five weeks. The progress towards attaining this goal will be evaluated through self-assessments on the same after every two weeks. The assessment questions will be obtained from online resources and the library.

Resources

Several learning strategies and resources can be used to accomplish the stated goals. The first strategy I intend to use is to schedule my study time to coincide with the time of the day I am most comfortable with, which is early morning. Facer-Childs et al. (2018) report that maximum understanding and retention occur when the learners are least distracted and feel ready and effective. The second strategy is to diversify my learning resources. Several resources can be used. These include online journals, YouTube, online case studies, and textbooks. Group discussions are also effective and can be used in the evaluation processes. This way, I will be able to maximize my study time and bolster my knowledge in the listed areas.
