Course Reflection
Upon completion of the course, I would not change the content. Notably, organizational behavior captured my interest significantly. While skimming through the topic, I realized that it contains significant information regarding the critical elements such as values, norms, rituals, ceremonies, rites, and heroes that influence the members (Champoux, 2011). In my perspective, these aspects create the persona of an organization just like they mold an individual. For instance, an individual whose values include honesty, integrity, and fairness will behave in a manner that reflects these elements. Similarly, an organization with the same values will create policies that uphold them. In addition, the employees will also be expected to behave similarly. To uphold these values on the individual level, a person must possess similar personal values to fit the organization’s culture (Uhl-Bien, Schermerhorn, & Osborn, 2014). Thus, this topic seems to be perfectly enlightening for corporates and small business enterprises because it is a perfect guide for shaping an organization.
Students need to read beyond the provided course materials to better comprehend the course’s content. Expansive reading will promote the understanding process, which will facilitate the implementation of the coursework in businesses in the future. Failure to read widely will lead to a lack of proper understanding, which will negatively affect the achievement of objectives. In addition, students who do not read widely will also affect their performance negatively. Furthermore, class attendance is essential because it provides a platform for discussions and brainstorming. The students can easily ask questions that they do not understand. While participating in group discussions, learners can easily tutor each other and encourage the application of the new knowledge based on the assignments.
