The selected article is titled “Those who ogle also more likely to have harmful attitudes, study finds.” It is dated March 31, 2022, and has been sourced from Edith Cowan University. The author of this article misinterpreted correlation as causation. In this context, the author implies that a direct causal relationship exists between ogling and undesirable attitudes toward sexual assault. However, further evaluation of the primary source authored by Hollett et al. (2022) reveals that ogling does not cause undesirable perspectives on sexual assault. Ogling is only related to undesirable perspectives on sexual assault. Undesirable perspectives on sexual assault are dependent on an individual’s morals, ethics, and social life. On the other hand, ogling is dependent and is caused by poor communication skills and an individual’s personality.

The second chosen article for the second part of the assignment is authored by Yang et al. (2021). The article aimed to assess the effect of parenting environment on cognitive and psychomotor development among children aged below five years. The authors’ findings indicate that a positive correlation exists between the parental environment and children’s psychomotor and cognitive development domains (Yang et al., 2021). According to the authors, quality parenting should be provided in early childhood to promote a child’s cognitive and psychomotor development. This article may be misinterpreted by secondary articles (such as news sources) by reporting that a quality parenting environment improves cognitive and psychomotor development in children aged below five years. Accordingly, the misleading headline would be “Quality parenting environment improves cognitive and psychomotor development in children aged below five years.” This would be misleading because the primary source does not report a causal relationship between these variables.
