Classroom Management Plan
One of the primary objectives of an effective tutor is overseeing a disciplined and organized classroom. Teachers enhance discipline in the classroom using a classroom management plan which is a set of rules and guidelines structured to hold learners accountable for their behaviors to effortless classroom management. My education experience has shaped my beliefs to draft a classroom plan containing details and procedures of a classroom’s daily operations, including when students should take tests and how to respond to classroom emergencies. For instance, one of the rules in an elementary classroom management plan may require learners to raise their hands to get permission to speak (Jones et al., 2016). Students that violate this rule may receive a warning for the first time and receive punishment upon repeating it.
Importance of an Effective Classroom Management Plan
The primary benefit of a classroom management plan is setting rules that govern a classroom. Students understand the expected behaviors when the teachers introduce the plan on the first day of the class. Besides, the plan serves as a guideline that the teacher follows if learners misbehave or show undesirable behaviors (Alasmari et al., 2021). As a result, teachers can handle situations fairly and efficiently to restore normalcy in the classroom. The plan also helps students understand what to expect from the teacher, promoting fairness and equality in class.
Home, Social, and Educational Experiences and Beliefs that have Shaped Philosophy of Classroom Management
One of the home, social, and education experiences that have significantly influenced my philosophy and perspective on classroom management include the concept of family rules and ideals that have been instilled in me since my childhood. The environment that I grew up in taught me that I am directly responsible for my actions and that honesty is the best public policy. I have learned through my educational experience that any person has the potential to succeed, and hard work and determination are the secrets to success (Jones et al., 2016). My experience has also helped me realize that effective instructional strategies can propel any student to success, shaping my classroom management philosophy to focus on helping every student succeed.
The Role of Learners’ Families, Cultural Norms, and Community in a Classroom Management Plan
A culturally approachable classroom management plan teaches students to nurture tolerance towards other cultures in a culturally diverse classroom. Students also learn to respect other people’s cultural perspectives beyond the classroom. Therefore, teachers need to incorporate culturally responsive instructional pedagogies at all levels to meet the needs of an increasingly culturally diverse global society. The increasing diversity within and outside the classroom makes it essential to teach learners to adapt to the changing environment. Accordingly, my classroom management will focus on helping students learn how to interact with each other and the rest of society.
How Classroom Management Supports Students
A classroom should accommodate the diverse needs of students by offering a friendly environment. Teachers should structure a classroom management plan that helps students with diverse needs to cope with their current situations. For instance, the teacher should set aside specific time to counsel students and encourage them to be part of classroom management. Classroom management should overlook the special needs of individual students within a class setting (Jones et al., 2016). The teachers can use classroom management as a resource tool to encourage students from more privileged families to help their counterparts who need care. In addition, it should also encourage learners to treat their less privileged counterparts equally without discrimination.
How the Concept of Appropriate Behavior Aligns With Perceptions of How Current Students Behave In School
Teachers often identify a particular child’s behaviours as problematic or inappropriate if there is a disparity between the individual student’s principles and the teacher’s philosophy. This situation often arises because the teacher is unable to understand what the student is accustomed to, creating negative perceptions of the student’s behaviour. Reconciling expectations with classroom management rules can assist learners in adapting to different settings to meet set goals (Ellis, 2018). Therefore, teachers should pay attention to their relationships with all learners to encourage them to treat their counterparts with dignity and nurture a sense of importance and belonging. Adults should also examine their behaviours, how they respond to children and the significance of their behaviours in shaping children’s attitudes and actions. Most of the behaviours that students exhibit in school align with the environment they were brought up in and how the adults treated them.
