Child Observation-Cognitive, Physical and Social Development

Child Observation-Cognitive, Physical, and Social Development

Since the last observation, I have not seen the child again. I spent time with the kid, observing her cognitive, physical, and social development. The child turned seven years old this month, so this was an excellent opportunity to keep her in the natural environment during the birthday celebration. I spent about two days with the child, keenly assessing changes from the last observation.

One of the observations was that the child had improved in addition and subtraction math. She was swift in doing the assigned sums. I noted that the child had failed only three sums in a mathematics school test. She was very determined to understand why she died. She said that the teacher had told her to make the corrections. As such, she asked for guidance on how to make the corrections. She grasped the concepts extremely fast when shown the accurate approach to doing the failed sums. Her mother assigned her similar problems, and she got all of them right.

Additionally, she knows the answers to some additional sums off her head. For example, of the head, she knew the answers to 2+2, 3+3, 4+4, 5+5, and 6+6. She failed 7+7, 8+8, and 9+9, which she was guided through, and the next day, she remembered the answers. Her vocabulary has increased, she can read sentences effectively, and she desires to improve her handwriting. I heard her compliment her mother’s handwriting, saying she wished to write like her.

Physically, the child is still very active. She had a cold, but this did not stop her from running and playing. She could also dance very well with excellent coordination. Seemingly, dancing could be her hobby as she was doing it so well and enthusiastically. She is still very good at riding her bike, and I could see her trying to ride the bike with only one hand holding the front.

Additionally, I got a chance to see her swimming skills. She loves swimming and is very courageous in swimming. However, she needs more training in this area.

Socially, I noted that the child was shy. This was mainly in front of many people. Once the kids attending her birthday arrived, she ran to the bedroom and did not go to greet any of them. The mother followed her to the bedroom and asked her to go and greet them. It was evident that she was straining to speak to them.

When introduced as the birthday girl, she was timid and hesitant to talk to other kids. However, she gained confidence as time passed. I did not see her speak to most of the kids, but there were two kids she was very comfortable with. I could see her mother intervene to talk to all the children. On Sunday, she met her friends from school in church and socialized perfectly with them.

The child’s physical and cognitive development is typically on the right path. She has met all the developmental milestones of children at this age physically and cognitively, and in some cases, she is doing better than most children at this age. However, I believe that she is having some trouble with social development. She is already very selective in who she socializes with and takes much time to warm up to people. Nevertheless, this can be solved, and I could see that her mother was doing her best to help the child out by, for instance, encouraging her to speak and explore.

Child Observation-Cognitive, Physical and Social Development

Child Observation-Cognitive, Physical, and Social Development

You will observe one student during the entire term. You will evaluate the child’s cognitive, social, and physical development in each observation. You will also need to include some personal observations of the child in each observation. Your child’s observations must be at least two pages, not having your header information.
I included a picture of the first child observation that was done, so this one will need to be about the same child.
