This review article details the communication patterns when addressing diverse groups of patients. The authors sought to detail communication patterns across different cultural groups, emphasizing the linguistic and cultural challenges when handling these groups, the strategies for effective communication, and tips on how to expand caregivers’ knowledge of these strategies. As per the author, this study is necessitated by the dynamicity of the modern healthcare landscape along with the provider-patient communication challenges presented in diverse healthcare settings.

Patient-provider communication may sometimes present considerable challenges to caregivers. These challenges are often centered on the ability of caregivers to share complex information with the patients, discussions on highly emotional topics, and health literacy barriers. These challenges are compounded by the presence of linguistic and cultural barriers. This is especially true in culturally mixed setups. Maintaining cultural awareness and best practices in healthcare communications can help caregivers address communication challenges when handling diverse groups. This article is a systematic review paper. It meets the criteria for relevance as it details communication mechanisms when handling patients from different groups and geographies. Centered on the need to address communication gaps in modern healthcare, where diversity is the norm, this paper gives recommendations for caregivers to enhance cultural competency and communication. The paper also meets the criteria for accuracy as it is peer-reviewed and draws its findings from scientific papers. It is also timely.

This paper is centered on mental healthcare and details the mental health needs of multicultural patients. Refugees and asylum seekers are usually drawn from multivariate cultures and backgrounds. Faced with stress and upheavals from their host countries and the immigration process, these individuals are disproportionately affected by a myriad of medical and mental health issues. These include poor access to mental healthcare, anxiety and depression, and post-traumatic stress disorders, among others.

The authors further postulate that enhancing access to mental and physical healthcare for these populations remains a priority. Expanding programs that enhance physical and mental wellness for these groups, rolling out preventive healthcare, and promoting self-care can attain this. This will not only improve their adoption of mental healthcare resources but also improve their mental health-seeking behavior. This paper is a reviewed article. It meets the criteria for timeliness. It is also authoritative as its findings are informed by research. The article maintains relevancy as it succinctly details mental and physical healthcare issues affecting multicultural populations. Its recommendations may help promote the health of refugees and asylum seekers.

Impact of Migration on the Ability of Diverse Groups to Assimilate to Cultural Norms

This paper is centered on cultural assimilation for diverse groups. The authors sought to explore the transformational repercussions for immigrants. The recent waves of immigration into Western societies have drawn transformational challenges. The apparent cultural integration into Western cultures and the destabilization of the social norm that occurs with these large-scale movements of people may have considerable repercussions on the physical and mental wellness of these immigrants.

The impact of immigration has an impact on the subjective well-being and the cultural identity of both the immigrants and individuals in the host country. For immigrants, greater coherency between their cultures and the destination cultures is dependent on the degree of flexibility of these destination cultures. The fluidity of culturally evolved systems also comes into play. In culturally fluid systems, cultural integration is more effective and, consequently, subjective well-being is improved for these immigrants.

This paper is a peer-reviewed academic article and thus meets the criteria for authority. It also maintains relevance as it details the impact of migration on the assimilation of cultural norms. As evident in the paper, the authors clearly define the consideration factors that come into play during the acculturation process.
