What information does it convey?
The Pepsi website contains information about the company’s products. This includes the different flavors of soft drinks, calories in each, and other nutritional information (Pepsi, 2021). Such information is important as it enables customers to choose a suitable drink. The information is displayed using graphics. Meaning each product is illustrated in graphics. Therefore, customers can easily relate a physical can of soft drinks in the shop with the one on the website. According to Daher (2019), infographics showcase data as well as information using graphics. This means that the Pepsi website is an infographics website.
Does it tell a story?
The story on the website is about Pepsi products and how they are consumed (Pepsi, 2021). This includes photographs of the different soft drinks and young adults consuming burgers. Such graphics explain that Pepsi drinks and burgers are a good combination. Hence, customers will be provided with examples of when and how to consume the company’s drinks. There is also a 15-second video on the home page showing a man enjoying some ribs from a barbeque at home while drinking some Pepsi soft drink. The other part of the soft drinks’ story is where the contents of each soft drink are illustrated on the drink’s graphic. These graphics are clickable to provide more information.
What do you like and dislike about this infographic?
The graphics on the Pepsi website are commendable because they are vivid, not crowded, and easy to understand. For example, the graphics that illustrate how and when it is suitable to have a Pepsi are of good quality, well organized, and precise. These are important considerations in infographics (Daher, 2019). However, it would be better if more graphics of how and when to consume Pepsi were added. This could be done on an animated banner.
What additional related information would you like to see included as “next steps?”
More information on Pepsi drinks would enable customers to relate better to the products. For example, information about how much Pepsi is consumed worldwide and the most popular flavor would influence a customer’s choice. This could be done using a visual representation such as a graph. A brief history of Pepsi products would also be helpful to customers because it would enable them to relate more to the products.
