Higher-order thinking refers to thinking on a higher level rather than remembering evidence or reporting information to somebody precisely in the format that it was originally expressed (Watson, 2019). Higher-order thinking skills, such as creating, evaluating, and analyzing, affect lifelong success because they take thinking to a new level. Learners use complicated methods to deliberate about and analyze what they study (Elfeky, 2018). This way, students who use higher-order thinking can understand information, infer it, and link it to other ideas rather than recall it.

I see my high-order thinking develop in different ways through my education. First, as the video states, I participate in educational activities or events, such as creating a toy model (Hyman, 2019). During such activities, I work in groups where everyone is assigned various roles, which requires high-order thinking as it entails researching, drawing, cutting pieces, and finally creating the model. All these ensure my high-order thinking advances. Secondly, learning requires creativity, and as I continue studying and accomplish high-order thinking, I become more curious or eager to know more. Such then advances my creativity levels, ensuring I can find solutions to problems using technology or working in groups; therefore, I see my high-order thinking improving gradually as I continue my education.

I learned numerous higher-order thinking skills from Bloom’s verb through this course. I learned evaluation, creating, analyzing, organizational, remembering, and application skills. All these are beneficial, particularly in writing my assignments and doing research, as they help me understand a question, break it down, and finally answer it as required. The quote “Education is not a filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire” (Hyman, 2019) refers to why teachers teach, whereby in a class, there exists a group of minds thinking through issues together, and they can produce great heat and kindle a fire. This suggestion connects to my work as a future teacher to understand that every learner has their thoughts, and when all of them are given a chance to express them, we can get exceptional solutions that inspire everyone. Overall, it implies that collaboration is equally vital even in teaching.
