Status Progress and Potential Challenges Toward Completing Apple’s Human Resource Annual Operating Plan
I have made great progress in my Annual Human Resources Operating Plan. Some of the sections I have covered include the SWOT and gap analyses of my chosen company (Apple Inc.). The HR SWOT analysis shows that Apple has a reputation as one of the best employers because it values its employees’ needs. This positive HR reputation positions the company in an advantageous position while hiring because it attracts the best talent pool: Status Progress and Potential Challenges Toward Completing Apple’s Human Resource Annual Operating Plan.
However, the HR SWOT analysis shows a lack of labor mobility and progress demotivates employees. On the other hand, the HR gap analysis reveals an inherent skills mismatch at Apple, a reality that puts pressure on resources to finance training and development programs.
Another section covered so far is the human resource visibility at Apple. Apple’s human resource department plays a crucial role in motivating and retaining employees. In particular, the department implements reward programs designed to impart a sense of importance to employees.
Besides, Apple’s HR is responsible for implementing training and development programs in collaboration with other departments. Overall, stellar human resource management is integral to Apple’s business success.
Going forward, accessing the requisite data to make conclusive research findings may be difficult owing to the secrecy with which organizations treat their key data. Some organizations leave a limited digital footprint owing to privacy requirements, hence limiting data availability. This will be particularly impactful while handling the measurement and assessment section of the research, which has to be backed up with data. Besides, this segment may require assessing the accounts of competitive businesses whose data may not be readily available online.
Additionally, methodological challenges are likely to affect the current research. It is difficult to determine the scope within which one should narrow down and answer specific business questions. If the focus is too broad, there is a possibility of diluting findings, whereas a narrow focus may lead to overlooking key insights about the Apple Company.
For instance, while covering the HR metrics section, it will be challenging to determine the precise HR metrics against industry standards. If the metrics are too broad and not specific enough, one may believe that Apple is fairing well regarding employee treatment when, in reality, they have failed.
