Study Plan
The results from the practice exams provided me with insights into my strengths and the areas in which I could improve. Management of psychiatric illnesses was an area I performed well in. An opportunity for improvement still exists in diagnostics. For this quarter, I intend to use book readings and other learning tools to maintain a grasp on the management strategies for mental health illnesses and learn more about diagnostics in psychiatric care: Study Plan.
The first goal is to outline various diagnostic tools used in evaluating mental health illnesses by the end of the week. This will be attained by allocating at least one hour every day to read textbooks on mental health diagnostics. The second goal is to verbalize treatment strategies for major depression and generalized anxiety disorders by the second week.
This will be attained by integrating two discussion sessions every week centered on the comprehensive management of depressive and anxiety disorders. As Rahmat & Jon (2023) report, group discussions are valuable tools for evaluating learners’ understanding of the learned concepts.
The third goal is to be able to select an appropriate screening tool for anxiety and depression spectrum disorders by the third week. Peer engagements will be required to accomplish this goal as interactions between peers facilitate understanding of various learned concepts (Shao et al., 2024). Progress will be measured through a self-assessment exercise to evaluate my knowledge of the learned areas.
Notably, several resources will be used to accomplish the highlighted goals. These include the university library for textbooks on mental health disorders, YouTube videos, and online publications, such as journals. Pivač et al., (2021) highlight the value of online videos, noting that they are descriptive, widely available, and easily accessible.

Question
Based on your practice exam question results from Week 2, identify strengths and areas of opportunity and create a tailored study plan to use throughout this course to help you prepare for the national certification exam. This will serve as an action plan to help you track your goals, tasks, and progress. You will revisit and update your study plan in NRNP 6675, and you may continue to refine and use it until you take the exam.
To Prepare
- Reflect on your practice exam question results from Week 2. Identify content-area strengths and opportunities for improvement.
- Also reflect on your overall test taking. Was the length of time allotted comfortable, or did you run out of time? Did a particular question format prove difficult?
